Bringing Reliable, Human-Vetted Health Tech Content to AI Search
As AI-generated search results become more common, ensuring reliable, expert-driven content is surfaced has never been more critical–especially in health tech. That’s why we embarked on a project to optimize our content for AI search visibility, making sure that people searching for HL7, ETOR, and data modernization find trusted, human-vetted information rather than outdated or incorrect results.
This initiative was inspired by a federal hackathon challenge focused on making government websites more AI-compatible. While participating remotely with my former colleague, Anthony Williams (our previous Head Automations Developer), I realized that the same principles could apply to health tech content–and I set out to bring this idea to life at Primary.Health.
Laying the Foundation: AI-Optimized SEO for Health Tech
To make our expert-driven content discoverable, we needed more than just great writing–we needed a technical SEO strategy that aligned with AI search algorithms. With buy-in from Jessica Perkowitz (our COO and CAO at the time, previously leading marketing at Healthline), I spearheaded the implementation of key backend infrastructure updates to ensure our resources appeared in AI search results.
Our goal? To amplify the voices of our expert team and ensure that health professionals, IT specialists, and decision-makers could easily find vetted resources on HL7, ETOR, and data modernization.

The Technical Execution: Implementing AI-Ready SEO
To ensure our HL7, ETOR, and health tech content surfaced in AI-generated search results, we needed to:
- ✅ Implement structured schema markup to help AI understand the credibility of our content.
- ✅ Optimize metadata, internal linking, and backend configurations for AI search.
- ✅ Ensure AI-friendly formatting for better visibility in AI-powerred summaries.
- ✅ Leverage multilingual and accessibility best practices to support diverse audiences.
Luke Potadle played a crucial role in executing these backend optimizations. While this was my idea, the development credit truly belongs to Luke–his work made it possible to integrate technical SEO strategies that aligned with AI search algorithms.
The Results: AI Search Success
After implementing our AI-Ready SEO strategy, we saw our expert-vetted content appear in AI-generated search summaries for key health topics!
